Introduction to ITS

Gyeongju City Traffic Information Center

The Gyeongju Traffic Information Center was established to enhance the overall quality of transportation services in the city. By minimizing the inconvenience caused by traffic issues and improving real-time traffic conditions and road safety, the center strives to provide a more efficient and reliable travel experience for all Gyeongju residents.

Purpose of Establishment

The Gyeongju City Traffic Information Center is responsible for collecting, processing, providing, and managing traffic information. In the control room within the center, real-time monitoring of major roads in Gyeongju is conducted, and various unexpected incidents occurring on the roads are managed and responded to accordingly.

We are responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of the traffic management system, as well as the preventive maintenance and upkeep of field and center facilities. In addition, we conduct ongoing research to identify ways to maximize the effectiveness of the system.

  • Establishment of Traffic Infrastructure Based on Autonomous Vehicles
  • Autonomous Cooperative Driving Signal Provision System
DSRC-RSE (Dedicated Short-Range Communication–Road Side Equipment) base stations collect traffic information using short-range wireless communication. Traffic information is gathered through CCTV and intersection surveillance cameras, collecting real-time road video data. Incident detection systems identify unexpected events and measure traffic volume. Smart traffic management supports both vehicle and pedestrian detection. Advanced signal systems enable online traffic signal control. Road variable message signs (VMS) provide real-time traffic information. PIS (Parking Information System) delivers parking space information and garage status. Bus Information Terminals (BIT) display bus locations and arrival times. Gyeongju City Traffic Information Center collects, processes, and provides traffic data. The center monitors real-time traffic conditions and offers live updates.
